POSTCARDS - Find Printers

Paper Weight/Thickness:

a.) Basis Weight (80# - 100#): The weight in pounds of a ream of standard size paper (500 Sheets). Standard dimensions for text stock is 25" x 38" and for cover stock is 20" x 26".

b.) Caliper (12 pt. - 14 pt.): The thickness of a sheet of paper measured in units of a thousandth of an inch.

Coating Types:

a.) Gloss: A heavy coating that gives paper a smooth surface and bright images. Ideal for work with sharp images and vivid colors.

b.) Matte: Matte coating produces a duller, softer look than gloss coating. Used where text readability or the ability to write on the paper surface is important.

Paper Stock (Card/Cover, Text):

a.) Card/Cover - Card or Cover stock consists of thick, heavy paper used for posters, menus, folders, business cards, and postcards.

b.) Text - Text stock includes body, book, and offset stock. Primarily used for books, magazines, catalogs, advertising, direct mail, and letters.

4/4: Full color printing on the front and back of the paper.

4/1: Full color printing on the front, black and white printing on the back of the paper.

4/0: Full color printing on the front, blank on the back of the paper.
